From Patmos to Present: A Vision of VII Churches

In our 3rd instalment of “From Patmos to Present: A Vision of VII Churches” this week, we look at the church at Pergamum. Pergamum was an early Christian church situated among a plethora of Pagan Temples. The church at Pergamum is commended for holding fast to the name of Jesus but also rebuked for adopting antinomian practices influenced by the surrounding pagan culture, mostly involving sexual immorality. The church was faithful to the Name of Jesus but compromised by culture. Compromise placed them in the uncomfortable position of facing the sharp and uncompromising double-edged sword of truth and judgement
